ABOUT THE ARTIST

When The Rolling Stones handpick you to open up for them at Ireland’s biggest stadium, you know you’re onto a winner. The Mick Jagger-approved are indie-pop princes-in-waiting. A thrilling live four-piece, their super-uplifting, hugely melodic guitar-driven sound is the product of a tight-knit gang who’ve been playing together since school, when they first bonded over the sounds of The Strokes and Vampire Weekend.
Forming in their early teens, The Academic are Craig Fitzgerald, Dean Gavin and brothers Matt and Stephen Murtagh, the band have seen an incredible rise since forming, emerging as one of the most exciting live acts on the music scene.
The band have grown up together and those early teenage years of grind and graft have only gone to make The Academic one of the most exciting live acts around. From their humble beginnings playing battle of the bands competitions in their local school to the main stage at Reading & Leeds this summer, the platinum selling band have also gone on to play some of the worlds biggest festivals, sell over 100,000 tickets in their native Ireland, the US and Europe and with their largest UK tour, including a trip to London’s O2 Forum next April well on the way to selling out 2022 looks to be a breakthrough year for the band.
When it comes to the music, The Academic have already taken the honour of releasing an album that’s topped the Irish Charts with ‘Tales From The Backseat’ – a debut with over 100 million streams and nominated for the highly prestigious Choice Music Prize. 2 critically acclaimed EP’s followed through lockdown and with next year just around the corner the band will be aiming for even more international success with their highly anticipated second album

SORCHA RICHARSON

Irish singer-songwriter Sorcha Richardson has been cultivating a fanbase for several years. Songs such as‘Ruin Your Night’, ‘Honey’ and ‘Petrol Station’ are evocative vignettes of a moment in time which find the poetry in introspection. Her narrative songwriting connects with people who have shared similar tangled emotions. In November of 2019, Richardson released the biggest artistic statement of her career with her debut album, First Prize Bravery. The album won praise from The Irish Times, The Guardian, The Fader and Nylon, and was nominated for the RTE Choice Music Prize for Irish album of the year. It’s a collection of lyrical snapshots of life as a twenty-something, accompanied by the desires, doubts and developments that the decade delivers. Sorcha celebrated the release of her debut album with a sold out Irish tour and a series of festival and headline shows in the UK and Europe in late 2019 and early 2020 including performances at Reeparbahn, Eurosonic NS and Mirrors Festival in London. More recently, she collaborated with Irish artists Denise Chaila, God Knows, MurRli and James Vincent McMorrowon ‘Out The Gaff,’ and in November 2020 released ‘The Starlight Lounge’, Sorcha’s first official single since her debut album, which she wrote and co-produced with James VincentMcMorrow. Sorcha’s highly anticipated sophomore album is set for release in 2022
